For a client in the heavy transport sector, we produced an iron wheel for high-load trailers, sand-cast in GG25 gray cast iron. The model for the sand molds is made of aluminum. This material ensures the mold’s long lifespan and prevents warping due to temperature and humidity fluctuations—a risk that sometimes occurs with wooden models.
After casting, the component is carefully removed, blasted clean , and precision machined . Both sides are precision-machined to a bearing fit, while the outer diameter is machined with an h11 fit and a low surface roughness. This allows for the smooth application of a solid rubber tire.
